Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to welcome our esteemed Greek and Turkish colleagues to the 12^th Hellenic–Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Meeting.

This gathering marks the continuation of a meaningful tradition that began 30 years ago in Izmir, inspired by the visionary leadership of Professor Panayotis Soucacos and Professor Hakkı Oncag. Since then, these biennial meetings—alternating between Greece and Turkey—have grown steadily in participation, collegiality, and scientific value, attracting orthopaedic surgeons from universities, public hospitals, and private institutions alike.

Greek and Turkish orthopaedic surgeons share more than a medical profession; we share similar ways of life, cultural values, and regional ties. These commonalities provide a unique foundation for mutual understanding and meaningful scientific exchange. Over the years, our meetings have not only advanced clinical knowledge but have also fostered lasting friendships and a spirit of mutual respect. We are confident that this year’s meeting will continue to deepen these bonds.

The scientific program reflects the high standards of orthopaedic practice in both countries, showcasing the depth of expertise and innovation that characterizes our professional communities.

This year’s venue—the Propylaia, the historic central building of the University of Athens on Panepistimiou Street—offers a setting that blends classical beauty with academic significance. Designed by the renowned 19th-century architect Theophil Hansen, this neoclassical landmark stands as a symbol of Greek education and intellectual heritage. We invite you to appreciate its elegant columns, intricate architecture, and enduring role as a beacon of academic excellence for nearly two centuries.
